Collection of papers of Benson John Lossing : Addenda 1, 1740-1928 (bulk 1855-1885).

Family and business letters relating to Benson John Lossing. Included are 130 letters, many illustrated with sketches that Lossing wrote to his family during his travels in the preparation for his Pictorial Field-Book of the Revolution. There are also some 135 letters, chiefly retained copies, from Lossing to his scholarly associates and publishers. Also included are Lossing's diaries, notebooks, manuscripts, and pencil drawings, many of them unidentified. The Miscellaneous portion contains unidentified manuscripts, drawings, photographs, sketches, and notes, some of them belonging to his daughter Alice, printed biographical pamphlets and small scrapbook relating to Benson John Lossing, genealogical materials concerning the Lossing and other related families, photographs, newspaper clippings, forms, and other ephemera.
